All About Me
I love being a kindergarten teacher. It is wonderful to see how much the children learn and grow during this exciting time. This will be my seventeenth year as a teacher. I taught 5th grade for 3 years (Leeds and Pinson Elem. in Alabama and Crumpton Elem. in Marina, California), Pre-K for 2 years (in Germany), and Kindergarten for the rest (in Germany and at Gardendale). I have a bachelor’s degree in education from Samford University and a master’s degree in education from UAB. I also completed the requirements to become a National Board Certified Teacher in 2011. My husband’s name is Clay and I have a son named Rhys. I am originally from Mobile and my parents still live there. The rest of my family (2 sisters and a brother) is spread out across the country. When I am not at school I enjoy photography, cooking, and reading. I also love to travel and have visited 9 other countries and even lived in Germany for 4 years! I can’t wait to share some of my experiences with your children!
I believe that all children are learners, and it is my goal to help them feel confident, capable, and successful at school. I strive to create a community in the classroom so that the children feel that it is “our space” and not the teacher’s space. I would like for each of you to be a part of our community as well. I hope to get to know each of you and welcome your assistance. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns about your child. I will be available for conferences before and after school each day with an appointment. I also check my email regularly and I will respond if you email me ([email protected]). I am looking forward to our year together and I hope that you are as well.
